Inventory ... Frustration

I'm going to Nashville at the end of October, I've been searching every day for a Month and all of October and November had ZERO availability so finally yesterday I booked airbnb. Guess what , today the screen lit up with availability for my days and much much more. How is this possible ? I doubt it is cancellations because we're 15 days in .

I knew I shouldn't have done a search.

If memory serves, from days gone by there have been some reports of Wyndham dumping inventory into the system from time to time. I do not think this is what the current situation is. Inventory problems currently appear to be clustering in three parts:

1. What you saw where it is just not showing for a period of time.
2. Cancelled inventory not returning to inventory/not returning to inventory in a timely manner. Specifically one bedroom units.
3. Booking inventory that is showing as available from the calendar.

Hopefully, people are using the blue feedback button when these situations occur. If enough people do this they may look at and hopefully fix the problems.

This is absolutely ridiculous how common this problem is. Call the resort, if there are plenty of openings call the reservation system and complain LOUDLY. We have seen this happen over and over again. Resorts that should have inventory show no availability. This is a system softeware problem, not Wyndham dumping inventory into the system.

So let's think about this for a second. I'm sure what I just went through has happened to hundreds or thousands of others. Does Wyndham have anything to gain by doing this ? It's not like my points are now going unused, I will book another trip . Or are there that many people who's points do go unused and they actually gain from it ?

I think they rent out our units and as time gets closer they dump the availability back in. Just my opinion .

I've noticed that when I search and it comes up with nothing if I click on the resort to do the calendar search there is availability.

One of the last issues they are still working on with our account is the discount and upgrade function and just this week it is finally getting closer to being completely fixed. With the initial booking search if the whole stay isn't within the 60 day window I don't get the correct discount but the upgrade choices are right. With the calendar search I get the correct discount for the whole stay but the upgrades are screwed up. It isn't often that I'm booking anything that isn't entirely within the 60 window so that has been low on the priority list of things to fix and I can call and have them book it for me to get the correct discount and upgrade.

It is always been that way that is not a new website issue. Every year when we go to Daytona we are unable to book the Saturday night until within the 15 day window. I am sure Wyndham dumps what they haven't rented. We usually end up with an overlapping reservation because they don't allow single night bookings during speedweek.
