I've been trying to determine what value TS ownership would be for my family and have concluded that with desired destinations in Europe and inability to plan anything more than a year in advance that it would be silly to buy one even on the resale market. That said, I've noted how genuinely helpful this site and its members have been for folks that feel a little lost or confused, so I thought I'd pose the following question.
If I were to pay the yearly membership fee for a points based system, say RCI, and then purchase one or two hundred thousand points from the resale market, would I get a decent idea of what the whole points based exchange systems are all about? Is it even possible to do this? Would it be feasible to stay for a week in mid-level accomodations in the USA for four or five people two or three times a year for that many points? I found the RCI Weeks Resort reservations grid online so I have an idea of the points values, but the lack of information on availability is causing me grief.
I realize resale points will cost a bunch more than normal MF divided by TS ownership points, but I'm just looking for a way to assess the annual value of the TS ownership concept.
My wife and I flew to France this year for 6 nights flight and hotel for $750 each via some travel site. We're trying to make TS work for us but are having a hard time.
Thanks for any and all advice in advance!
Stephen
P.S. Hat's off TUG! A truly useful site!
