Is This the Prettiest Train Ride in America?
By Perri Ormont Blumberg/ Travel/ Southern Living/ southernliving.com

"The 35-hour journey is a feast for your eyes.

We're all about the Everglades, the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Gulf Stream waters...but we're fast to admit there are some breathtaking natural wonders outside of the South. (We still wholeheartedly maintain our sunsets are tops.)

And you'd be hard-pressed to find a better vantage point to see them than chugging along on Amtrak's Coast Starlight route. The train travels to-and-from Seattle and Los Angeles with beautiful views of the Cascade Range, Pacific Ocean, forests, valleys, and more.

As described on the Amtrak blog, "From big city views to nearly 350 miles of California coastline, it’s no wonder that the Coast Starlight is considered to be one of the best and most scenic trips in North America. On this route you’ll ride through unsurpassed mountains and rolling hills, including Mt. Shasta, Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, and Mt. Rainier — all before arriving in Seattle."...."
