Isle of Skye: Things to Do

"Shrouded in folklore and once ruled by norse gods, Scotland's wild, crowning archipelago is now colonised by creative mavericks and foraging chegs.

Skye has long been celebrated for its drama and scale, its scoops and jagged notches, and the dark promontories of the Cuillin mountains. It is consistently named as one of the world’s most prized locations, and attracts the travellers to match. But there are still many areas where you won’t find a soul......"

I considered renting a vacation home there once, but decided it was too secluded for a first time visit to Scotland.

Several years ago we were driving around Skye and saw a Mama and 2 Lambs along the road. Mom was just off the road eating. The two Lambs were lying down on the black asphalt- probably because it was warm. We stopped and herded the Lambs well off the road. Mom followed. Just as we and the Lambs cleared the road surface a car came around the sharp curve traveling at high rate of speed. The Lambs would probably have been killed. By the way Sheep and Goats have free range on Skye. We loved our day on Skye. It was very beautiful. We left the Inverness area before sunrise and got back well after dark.
