Brewster Green (two weeks).
Monday and Tuesday, I drove my mother to Florida to stay with friends for a month and we depart for London tomorrow (August 16, 2018) for 27 days. We will spend 1 night in Southampton and then take a 2 week Celebrity Silhouette cruise to Guernsey, 4 ports in Ireland and 2 in Iceland. We will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary the last night of the cruise. Having dinner in Murano on board that night. We are traveling with a high school friend of my husband's and his wife. It will be their 30th anniversary the day before our's (second marriage for him). The guys have played in a rock 'n roll band together since 1964. Still do reunions, etc. Hubby even still has, and plays, his 1965 sparkly blue Ludwig drums. Upon our return to Southampton, we have rented a car and a cottage at Bruern Abbey (An Astor estate) in the Cotswolds for a week and then 4 nights in London. It's been a lot of work getting everything arranged, studying tour options and getting the house ready for my friend and her dog to house and pet sit. I'm glad our remaining pup, Olive, is going to have familiar company as she is a little depressed since our Lizzie passed away. We all are.

Thanks to Jim, I realized that I had Celebrity insurance coverage during the cruise but not for the remainder of the trip and have taken out another policy for that time. Next time I will not take the cruise coverage if I am staying longer and take a private policy for the entire time. You have helped many of us, I'm sure.

Will be checking in! If anyone has any tips on special places and things to do/eat in Cobh/Cork, Waterford and/or Dublin, Ireland, as well as London and the Cotswolds, I'd love to read them!

Glynda, in Dublin, be sure to go to Trinity College and see the Book of Kells. Students conduct the tours. In Waterford most people go to the crystal factory, so we went to the Bishop's Palace where costumed docents conducted tours of the place. It was near the Medieval Museum. We stumbled into 'Dancing Man' pub in Southhampton. You need ressies online. And a good time was had by all!

Glad you were able to supplement X's insurance for the rest of your trip. The peace of mind is worth it.

Jim

P.S. I might suggest you change the night of your anniversary dinner. The last night of the cruise, you'll have to have your bags packed and out by 11 (or so), and you'll have on your best clothes. Suit yourselves, but I wouldn't want to have a celebratory dinner then pack.

P.P.S. Paula just said, "I wish I was going on that cruise with them."

You owe Paula a make-up cruise for the one that got cut short! So come on!

We walk our luggage off the ship and don't put it out in the hall. Last night may not be as good either but it is THE night. 50 years.

We are having dinner in Southampton at another pub with 24 other people from the ship that are on our Cruise Critic Roll Call. Hubby and I have seen the Book of Kells but we will be walking around Trinity College while our friends see it. Not interested in crystal, been there done that with other companies. Will have to look up the Bishop's Palace. Thanks!
