Happy to say I just saved someone probably about $1300. I listed one of my Marriotts for sale and found a buyer and we happened to start a conversation on TSs. He told me he had an Orlando unit that he was trying to unload. He went on to say he was about to pay someone $1700 to sell it for him. I told him he might as well throw the money out the window as they wouldn't sell anything for him. I advised him to list it on Redweek and TUG for $1, pay closing and offer a $100 gift card and it's likely to sell since I see activity on the resort on RW and it would put him at the top of the list of sellers.

We spoke for some time about Marriott and I told him he wouldn't have to worry about getting stuck with the Marriott because there is always a market for a summer HHI Marriott and that gave him some comfort considering the frustration he had with his previous non-Marriott ownership.

This guy was so appreciative of the information it was a great feeling to help out a fellow TS owner.

Good for you! It's great that you saved him from paying $1,700 up front to sell his timeshare - which most likely would be money thrown into the wind.

Someone else saved from throwing out money, warms my heart.

Did he say how much the scammer would allegedly fetch for this property?

BTW, where did you meet this person and have this conversation?

Way to go, Richard! I'm sure you told him about TUG. Once he comes here, he won't believe all that there is to learn about the timeshare world.
