Hi, I'm thinking of purchasing a Getaway through II for Dec 2017, Hyatt Residence Club Key West, Windward Point, $1,579 platinum.

Just wondering if this is a good value? or if I should keep watching, waiting for a II promotion, etc.? Our travel time and where we travel is flexible - Key West is just one of many places on our bucket list.

I have compared to the Hyatt website price, and with taxes it is about $500 - 600 less. All comments appreciated. thank you.

I'm not a big personal fan of the Hyatt Windward Point location (directly abutting the Key West Airport), but aren't all units at Windward Pointe 2BR?
If so, although no "bargain", that's not a terrible price for a December (i.e., outside of hurricane season) week in Key West if you need a 2BR unit.
I agree with the observation already offered that there is likely a tax (11% or 12%, iirc) imposed upon (i.e., in addition to) the rental figure cited.

I certainly wouldn't hold my breath waiting for significant Key West timeshare "promotions" from II. Demand customarily exceeds supply in Key West.

The last getaway promotion was $30 off. I wouldn't wait around for a 2% discount.

Hi again. I went ahead with purchasing the getaway back in April. This is our first time staying at a Hyatt, and our first time in Key West. We are currently staying at Windward Pointe, and love it, and Key West! The property is lovely, the units are very spacious, comfortable and clean. plenty of free parking. The pool is quiet, lots of chairs, etc. Staff are very friendly. love the large balconies, and ocean views. I would love to come back here.

How did Key West weather the storm? Groceries, restaurants, and timeshares open or closed because of damages? Thanks

There are some posts under Hyatt by others regarding Key West. We drove down from Fort Lauderdale, and there are a number of small towns that were hit very hard, and are on a very long road to recovery. Piles of debris at the sides of the highway, homes and trailer parks destroyed. some locals have said that their hotels are 40 - 60% closed in the small towns. Key West was apparently a priority area for recovery efforts due to high number of tourists, etc. The three Hyatt Timeshares reopened late October. Windward Pointe is still doing some recovery (some landscaping in small areas, pool heater, etc.), but most areas are lovely. Staff here, and all around Key West, have been very friendly and appreciative of tourists returning. We've seen 3 of the large grocery stores and plazas open for business.

We stayed at this resort over Memorial Day week this year and I agree it’s a fabulous resort and I really enjoyed my stay

More accurately, Key West was simply not hit nearly as hard as some of the other keys. With all due respect, I don't really think (or believe) that the "recovery priority due to high number of tourists" statement is factually correct. There was quite simply less damage in Key West.

I agree with your statement that other areas were hit harder than key west. I was simply passing along what locals down here were saying, particularly those in the harder hit areas. Also, in all areas we have been in, they have expressed their common appreciation for tourists coming to the area and to their particular establishment (restaurants, museums, etc.)
