Hello TUG Group,

First time user and soon to be paid member. Thank you for this site.

My 82 year old mother has a timeshare in Lake Okanagan that we are trying to get rid of. However, how do we go about getting rid of a time share there and not have to pay a huge chunk of fees?

Kind Regards,
Gerry A

Start with the sticky above “how to sell your timeshare” then likely post in bargain bin

As well as looking at the info mentioned above, look at the info in the threads in the Canada Timesharing section of these forums about that resort.

Read through this thread in the Canada forum: https://tugbbs.com/forums/index.php?threads/lake-okanagan-resort-info-wanted.226622/
Then read the thread starting in 2012 on the Fairmont/Sunchaser etc debacle. I think what happened there is a preview of what the Lake Okanagan can expect. I hope not, but I think it's better to be prepared.

I've only read about the issues and have only a sketchy grasp of the issues. You will get better information from those who post in the first thread. However, the normal advice of how to sell/give away a timeshare won't work in this situation. This is a situation where, from my outsiders perspective, the owners are truly getting screwed. You can't sell it or give it away and giving it back to the resort costs a sizable amount of money.

Good luck.
Sue
