Cissy's recent post with a car question reminded me of the many hours of enjoyment I've had over the years listening to Tom and Ray (Click and Clack - aka the Tappet brothers) on Car Talk. While the show is no longer in production, and sadly Tom passed on in 2014, you can still enjoy the shows using your favorite podcast delivery app.

One place to find the show is on TuneIn at http://tun.in/pei6E

There are other locations on the web as all including NPR and the NPR One app.

As you listen to the shows, you may (occasionally) hear some useful car advice but you will always laugh! One of my favorite stories on Car Talk was from the mom whose son wanted to buy an ice cream truck (show #1513 - https://www.cartalk.com/content/1513-good-humor-kid).

Be prepared to laugh and (perhaps) learn a little about cars!

I spent many Saturday mornings listening to them on my way to work. They are(were) a hoot!

For another gone & easily overlooked public radio gem, check out the unauthorized internet trove of bootleg Schickele Mix episodes on-line at . . .

http://www.benofsky.com/mix/

Schickele Mix is (was) a radio program dedicated to the proposition that All Musics Are Created Equal -- Or, As Duke Ellington Put It, If It Sounds Good It Is Good.

Peter Schickele, the host & creator of the show, is best known as the musical wit behind the "found" compositions of P.D.Q. Bach, the 21st of Johann Sebastian Bach's 20 children. The show occasionally features P.D.Q. Bach numbers, but mostly plays music by lots of other composers from ancient classical to modern pop & just about everything in between.

Schickele Mix was in production from 1992 to 1999. Some stations aired re-runs through 2007. The only way to hear it now is at the bootleg web site, or by listening to recordings taped by people like me who were die-hard fans & enthusiasts of Schickele Mix.

To get started on Schickele Mix (& maybe get hooked), here are some great episodes to try . . .
