So we just retuned from a week at the Marriott Waiohai we picked up through an exchange on II. Our family loved the Island and Resort.

On to my question. We have decided we want to travel there again over Christmas 2019. We own at the Grand Chateau, and have our 2020 weeks available as we own a 2 bd l/o EOYE. We also have a 1 bd at the Ko Olina the week of Thanksgiving 2019 we picked up through an exchange as well. We will no longer be using this week since we have decided to travel over Christmas.

What would your recommendations be to try and book a room for Christmas at Waiohai? Use one of our 2020 weeks and put in for an exchange? Or sell the week at the Ko Olina over Thanksgiving and use that towards buying a room from someone?

Thank you for the help in advance.

If you are thinking of renting your Ko Olina week and you got it through an exchange company like II, then you would not be allowed to rent it. Exchangers are prohibited from renting.

Although I have seen occasional Waiohai units over Christmas on Interval, I wouldn't want to count on it. I would rent. Besides, renting early (and therefore knowing whether you are traveling on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) will will give you a longer window in which to buy your airplane tickets and hopefully get a lower airfare.
