Playa Andaluza has a smaller footprint compared to its larger cousin in Marbella however that makes it easier to get around. There are no buildings that are better than any other, your preference will be whether you prefer morning sun on your balcony or afternoon sun. All the balconies allow a view to the sea and to the mountains behind (I prefer the mountain view), the excception to this are the apartments on the ground floor, all you'll see are the lovely plants so if you want a view then request a higher floor when you receive your pre arrival e-mail.
As it's your first visit to Spain you won't be spending much time at the resort, particularly as you only have a week. Visit Estepona, the old town in Marbella, Malaga, Ronda and make sure to eat in the nearby hill village of Benahavis, some of the best restaurants in the area are located there. For groceries, ignore the overpriced Marketplace, there's a recently built Aldi about a five minute walk from the resort where you can stock up for much better prices (and better quality if you opt for the more premium products and they'll still be cheaper than the poorer quality alternatives at the Marketplace).
If you're not up for cooking and want to eat somewhere within walkking distance then there's a good Italian restaurant abut 10 minutes walk away, La Capannina. You'll need to cross the road via the bridge and the restaurant is located just as you leave the bridge. The resort restaurant is OK, it's expensive for what it is, I've had some good dishes but also some mediocre ones. The staff are excellent but in general the food isn't worth the price. You can get far, far better food for the same price in Benahavis.
