What are the activation requirements you are currently seeing? We are interested in obtaining Lifetime Platinum status, and would like to buy resale MVC points first to reduce the overall cost and then get those points activated into their network.

Can anyone confirm what you have been able to do in the last 12 months that is a similar approach? We just attended the timeshare presentation and were offered 4,000 points for $44,800 after all discounts with 8,000 bonus points.

Note, you will not get "lifetime" platinum. It will be platinum unless you sell and no longer own enough to qualify for platinum.

And/or, if MVC changes the Ownership Benefits at some point down the road.

I own at the Executive level, and though that this qualifies me for "lifetime platinum"...is this correct? When I log into my Bonvoy account it says I am "lifetime GOLD". Am I missing something?

Its because you are ACTUALLY lifetime Gold. Its just that MVC grants you Platinum status annually as a result of your ownership level in the DC.

Does lifetime mean that even if you sell your DC points you still retain gold? Or you’re guaranteed at least Gold for as long as you own your VOI?

Lifetime status is earned via years/nights earned in the MR/Bonvoy system and has nothing to do with MVC ownership. Once you achieve a lifetime status, you can never be anything less than that, regardless of anything owned or not in MVC. MVC will, based on ownership status, grant annual Bonvoy status, which could be less than, equal to, or greater than your lifetime status. So if its greater than your lifetime status, you win. If its equal to or less than, you are still governed by your actual lifetime status in the Bonvoy system.

Got ya! I was confused and thought a certain level of ownership gave lifetime. Thanks for the explanation.

The confusion is that the MVC sales reps call it Lifetime....but its really not.

Right! I even went back to the email follow up the MVC rep sent me based on my phone call with him. I could have sworn I heard lifetime for hitting a certain level. I just pulled up the benefits chart and “lifetime” is not on that chart. I’d buy enough points for lifetime titanium if that were the case.

Salesperson just didn't finish the sentence. You will be lifetime platinum as long as you kep the required number of DC points.

So what are your thoughts on buying resale points (say 4-5k) and then buying a 4-5k package to get them to activate the resale points as part of the sale? Total cost would then be around $60k for 9-10k points...

If you buy the resale points, you have to pay the $3 a point enrollment fee for each point anyhow. Although I have never heard of anyone trying to buy an official resale week at say St. Kitts to enroll resale points.
