Tug family, I am seeking your expert advice. Today, I booked Aruba vacation & was waiting 24 hours before adding point protection after confirming DH was in agreement with dates & resort choice.

During the booking via phone, the representative didn't offer point protection. However, when I received confirmation email of booking, I also received a second email stating "Thank you for adding Points Protection* to your Exchange Vacation!" I did not purchase points protection - yet. Is this complimentary for Hilton members in honor of Hilton's 25th Anniversary? Or do I need to call and actually purchase protection to insure points are protected?

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm familiar with RCI Points but not Hilton. If the rules are different, you may get a response if you ask to have this thread moved to the Hilton forum.

Points protection is not included in the exchange fee (what was your total exchange cost?) I think 'yes' is the default for online reservations. If you didn't request it by phone, it may have also been the default and the rep didn't mention it. At any rate, you should be able to check online and see if it's on your reservation.

Check to see how much you were charged and if not and you want to add it call to make sure it is or is not included and add if needed. If you decide against the protection and you were charged call ASAP to cancel and let them know you were charged without requesting or agreeing to the protection. When you book online it is automatically added and you specifically have to remove it in order to more on without paying for it.

I am just being able to see responses, hence my reason for my late response of "thank you all"
