I received an email update from Oceana Palms today and noticed there is a new GM. I really liked Chris Cano, the previous GM and don't know what happened to him? He had been there for several years and was very supportive of staff and owners. Hopefully Andrew Mitchell, the new GM, will be good and supportive of owner's issues. Does anyone know anything about the new GM or what happened to Chris.

I was disappointed when the previous GM of Ocean Pointe left, but am very impressed with their new GM.

I don't have any answers but like you, I thought Chris was doing a good job and I always enjoyed talking to him.

From my understanding, Chris left the hospitality industry. Sounds like positive for him and his family.

He was an awesome GM. Big shoes to fill!

We will be there in July.

I hope the new GM really cares about owners and employees the way Chris did. He was always helping when needed and responsive to owners' concerns. I sent an email to the new GM, but never received a reply. Chris always tried to assign legacy owners a villa in the sunrise tower when using their owned week.

I sent an email over a week ago to new GM requesting information regarding several issues. Chris was very responsive to owner information request, but I haven't received any reply from new GM. In my experience, the good GM's are very responsive to owners. My concern is that management focus will be on the trust rather than legacy owners, since most of the resort is in the trust.

Hopefully, the new guy is just getting used to filling very big shoes. I have dealt with a number of gms at Marriott and others and Chris was one of the best.

He was always visible and available. Last trip, we checked in, noticed quite a few towels on chairs and immediately knew it was his day off.

Never did see that again!

I learned from another owner that Chris is now GM of the Westin in Columbus. He had previously worked for Marriott Hotels, so I guess he is returning to that side of the business. Columbus is a good area to raise a family.

I can't find any information regarding the background of the new GM, or whether he is coming from another MVC property. I think MVC should inform owners when there is a GM change, as well as provide the background information for the new GM.
