I really enjoyed reading this post on MouseOwners. I wish we could all be this positive about whatever we own. In the big scheme of things, everyone who is part of TUG is blessed and we need to enjoy it!

amongst all the negative news and changes lately, i wanted to chime and still say I love DVC.

I use it for what i bought it for. to have vacations available at my home resort Animal Kingdom Villas, when i want to go.

It's a perk if i get somewhere else at 7 months, but i don't depend on it.

I didn't get into DVC to resell or make money. I bought into DVC for the vacations and knowing i have a place to stay at the place i love.

Businesses change all the time. Business models change all the time, but I still love the feeling when I go to WDW. I still miss it when i leave. I still long for the next trip as soon as i get back.

I love my DVC!

ITA. There are many here on TUG who absolutely love their timeshare ownership. I'm one. :)

We bought our Wyndham points (then Fairfield) to share travel adventures with our three children, exploring as much of the U.S. as we could afford, mostly driving and preparing our own meals together. With our Wyn points and RCI exchanges, we've had such WONDERFUL times... beautiful beaches, hiking & mountain biking, touring NYC and the nation's capitol, Williamsburg, Yosemite/San Fran, the Grand Canyon/Sedona, the Ozarks, all parts of Florida... really fantastic family memories.

The relative consistency (2 basic styles: legacy & newer resorts) in amenities and condo features among Wyndham properties helps us to settle in quickly wherever we've gone. Our kids are all adults now with small (so far) families of their own. They've all loved the Wyndham timeshares and plan to get resale contracts of their own when they're a bit more settled in their careers and houses. For us, the points flexibility (some trips as a couple, some as a larger group, or with multiple units) and multiple resort locations within a couple hours drive of NC, SC, and MD where we all live... excellent.

Like the DVC poster on Mouseowners, we see the many negative posts about Wyndham and understand them, often agreeing fully. But at the end of the day, we still love our vacation ownership! And we look forward to many more delightful vacations with it. Thanks for the reminder to be thankful for our blessings. So important.

DVC (resale) owner-lover here. IMHO, it's easy to use and fair for all--for basic reservations at the 14 legacy resorts there is no platinum status-booking ahead of others, no reservation fee, no cleaning fee, no fee to change resorts, no fee to cancel 31+ days out. My only complaint is that it's rather $$$$ (even for annual fees) for 2BR vs. other systems. But anyone can do the math with the public points charts--DVC guides even show the points chart at the meeting.
However, for studios, it's a great deal. We've stayed multiple times in prime season for 5 nights for about $600 annual fees--that's over $50/night less than the values!
The ticket discounts, extra member nights, DVC member cruise, and even ability to book elsewhere are gravy for us. If we could only use our points at home resort, it would still be OK with us.

I have nothing to add — I agree with everyone! I do have to say I’d be hesitant to buy now, though, with all the changes. We have the perspective of owning 20+ years and can only hope that today’s buyers can enjoy the same.

It might be that I'm pre-caffeinated or that I'm too much of a newb and missing something obvious... but is there a link to the MouseOwners post? TIA!

We are 10 year DVC members. We are looking forward to many more trips! I am enjoying that the Member Services Website as it has been enhanced to modify reservations online which eliminates having to wait until 9am when you are trying to modify a reservation. I recently snagged a reservation very early in the morning. I had been booked at Copper Creek Villas and wanted to change to Boulder Creek Villas as part of our split stay. Prior to the on line enhancement, you would have to wait until 9am to call Member Services and take your chances that starting at 8am, the reservation would be taken by someone making a new reservation. Saw the availability and modified the reservation on line.

I agree! We LOVE our DVC (and Marriott).
(We really appreciate the ease of them when we come home and are faced with the daily, on going tasks of home ownerships. Yard work, maintenance & upkeep etc.)
