What improvements are being made to the pools?

Looks like resurfacing, no noticeable improvements, just regular maintenance that happens every 10-12 years.

More speculation, as normal. Not hard to get confirmation, so why guess?

Not so sure it is just a guess. Did you read post #18? "The oceanfront North Main Pool, the adult pool and deck areas at The Westin Kā'anapali Ocean Resort Villas North will be closed for maintenance." It doesn't say it will be closed for improvements but rather maintenance. Given the age of the property, resurfacing falls in line with the maintenance timeline. So perhaps an educated guess? Perhaps you should just call the resort yourself to find out?

Yes, it’s the same educated guess many of us likely had when reading that update. But I’m not in any particular rush, and I’m sure David and others who are on site will update this thread with more info soon. I just don’t like to speculate when it’s so easy to get a definitive answer.

For now, they seem to be taking out the cement coping (I think that is the term.) Also closed is rental area by pool. You are directed to another area to rent something but can still get towels there. Sorry, not particularly clear.

We have been on beach in front of B2 and B5 pretty much every day (except Olivia day) - today the noise of construction was loud (loud) in front of B2-B5 - also it appears that WKORVN guests that want to rent umbrellas/chairs on beach have to go to the WKORV side.
I have never seen so many rented umbrellas/chairs in front of B3-B2.
None in front of WKORVN.

David, how busy are the South and Nanea pools/restaurants?

Sorry, can’t help (we haven’t even been in pool) - if the beach in front of B2-B3 is any indication - busy at WKORV. There are definitely more people on beach overall. They have put lounge chairs all around the south pool area (lawn, walkways).

We will be at Nanea next week.

Is Pailolo open? We’ll be at WKORV (South) in a week and a half. Can’t wait to get there.

Yes - happy hour 4-6, and also late night with music and fire pit.

Road below Lahaina (where bypass splits off) down to 1 lane due to floods - took us 2.5 hours to get to OGG. Luckily, our flight wasn’t until late afternoon.

People coming north had a line that went down to firing range - they were letting about 20 cars go at a time.
Lots of people missing flights.

Other than a couple of rain bands from TS.Olivia - no rain for 19 days until today.

I was wondering about that. As soon as I read your first post I checked the weather forecast for Lahaina and didn't see anything really to be worried about. However, when it all comes at once . . .

As to the pool closure, aside from the loss of the facilities, the noise and view have been bad. I imagine it might suck for parts of buildings 6 and 7 though.
Pailulu bar has remained open and actually had live music every night.

Like David said, everyone is going to South or Nanea. Chairs are totally empty and available.

The noise at times was bad. Being on the beach in front of that area (slightly to the south) for quite a few days during the initial closure - it was really noisy at times (sounded like tiles were be removed). But not all the time. I think the noise will be related to the step in the process.

However, many people (owners) we met were pissed as they found out after reservations were made.

It is causing more people to be on the beach (we go this time of year). Also, initially they were only setting up on beach at the B2-3 entry. So tons of Westin setups - later they starts moving north. It was a site - Westin setups moving to TB setups as you moved north towards WKORVN.

Never saw people on lounges in front of WKORVN on lawn. Never really went to pool area at WKORV - but they had lounges set up all over (even lawns).

I never went into the Nanea pool - not appealing - too crowded. Not sure if that was the WKORVN crowd or just poor design and low square footage.
I think design mostly. There was little I liked about Nanea or the beach out front (based on our preferences - YMMV). The Nanea lounges seemed really crowded.
I did like INU.
I like Pailolo as well as a hang out area.
Aunties has best food. IMO

We're going to have to try Aunties again in March. We've eaten there three times since they changed the name and were disappointed each time. In our opinion, the only thing worse than the food was the service. So, based on your statement, we'll try one more time!
