Odd point total 172,935

There is an EBay auction for 189,000 annual CW points that notes that for 2018 there are 172,935 points available and 189,000 thereafter.

My question is, under what circumstances of use, deposit, etc could you ever wind up with 172,935 points as everything in the ecosystem is denominated in rounded thousands of points.

I suppose, but haven’t tested, that you could, for example, deposit 16,065 points into rci, but why would you orphan both the 935 left in Wyndham or the 65 in RCI.

I’m sure there is a simple answer I’m missing.

I just reviewed my recent points usage charges. They are not being rounded to thousands of points.

I have 28,049 points currently. Have not used the points for anything other than making reservations on the website.

I used Wyndham Rewards for Christmas gift cards but not sure about regular points.

VIP discounts, especially the 25% silver and 35% gold, definitely result in some of these odd point balances. Sometimes resorts run specials during slow times that can do this too.

Your 28,049 could have been used to book something If t was open by borrowing the necessary points which would then make 2018 an odd amount. The main problem now is the change in rules plus not much open now because of bookings by cwp or CWA owners hoping to rent them. Last year, I borrowed and was able to get the presidential unit at Majestic Sun in place of the one bedroom. Quite a great last hoorsh that never came and not planned anymore.

That is certainly an odd amount. I would probably request a statement (points audit)... or maybe not, because they may lock the account until it's figured out!

My points discount is 50% - so I think that throws that theory out the window. And I have not borrowed points.
