"However, this increase will likely be offset by the need for more plastic bottles, bags, cutlery, etc. as global populations increase."

There is never a need, just convenience. Refillable water bottles, proper cutlery and plates, or paper plates.

We have been trying very hard to use reusable everything - beverage containers, bags, storage containers. It isn't easy - our lives seem to revolve around disposable everything. Personally, I am thrilled about the CA law that eliminates the thin plastic grocery bags. I like my reusable canvas bags so much better. I always hated those thin plastic bags. I remember the day in 1980 when I received the first one at the grocery store instead of the normal paper bag. I hated it even, lol.
