We're scheduled to fly into Cancun tomorrow. Tropical storm building, may become a hurricane. What preparations does Grand Luxxe make for hurricanes? Is the road to Cancun going to be flooded? Will the Cancun airport only close if Nate actually becomes a hurricane?

When we were at the GL in August, they were putting up huge curtains in the halls outside the rooms facing the conservation areas in the middle of the GL buildings. They were prepping for the hurricane that didn't affect Cancun, but flooded Texas. They have hooks for, I assume, the same by the decks of the suites.
I doubt the highway (307) would get flooded.

Vidanta Nuevo Valarta - has an excellent review of hurricane preparation from Oct 2015 .
Post 80 - by TUG member Pammo - Oct 28 2015

thread is Cat 5 Puerto Vallarta { Hurricane Patricia }
Patricia ended up hitting the lightly inhabited coast between Manzanillo & Puerto Vallarta .

Worth reading if you are concerned about resort preparation planning

I'm at Vidanta Riviera Maya now. They put a note under our door warning about tropical storm Nate. The beach will be closed, and they recommend staying inside. They are planning to put up large storm shields, and their are hooks on our balcony for that purpose.

The other thing, tomorrow nights performance of Joya by cirque du soleil is on sale - buy one get one free.

We will see how it goes, following the storm closely, seems likely to be just lots of rain so far.

My daughter and family are supposed to be flying down to Playa del Carmen early tomorrow morning. United Airlines says everything is OK. Can you give us an on-the-ground, eye witness update on the storm? Thanks!

I live in Cancun and as Mark Twain said: I have had a lot of problems in my life and most of them never happened." Nate has passed with no wind and no rain to Cancun. A non-event. We may get some rain today but Nate has long moved on so don't blame him.

@PamMo Sorry I missed that. Everything is fine here, there is no evidence of a storm at all, really, even all the trees are fine. Today was the nicest day of our trip so far weather wise (it was a bit rainy early last week).
