Purchased new timeshare with credits agreed to buy my old timeshare. Received maintenance fees from old resort then called new timeshare and ask why. Old timeshare would't let them buy and replied we had to keep it. Advice please!!!

This is a common scam - the company that sold you the second week scammed you.

Did this happen in Mexico?

Tell the new TS that the sale was contingent on them relieving you of the one you already own. I hope you have paperwork showing this. Either way, it's time to play hard ball.

Assuming your old and new timeshares are at different places, informing of a contingent sale will do nothing. The old resort was not a party to your new purchase contract and couldn't care less about its terms.

You were at a sales seminar in Mexico. You said that you couldn't afford $40,000? for the primo timeshare. But if you could sell your existing American timeshare, you would be able to afford the monthly fees. The salesman said they could sell your American timeshare for $25,000? which seemed like a lot. They said it would sell within 60 days to 3 months. You would only have to cover $15,000 of "new" money. Time has passed and you own 2 timeshares. They never told you that these were 2 separate transactions, and the second one didn't happen. Miserably evil people.

Your right Jim, the timeshare that was agreed to buy began to remodel , the board offered owners an exit strategy with assessment fees. All this took place after we made the deal now we are having a meeting on what to do! Any suggestions?

Abandon both and take the credit hit. Complain to Profeco about the new timeshare company. Do both.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I feel so lucky to have found TUG and have gotten out of my Mexican timeshares.
