I know I am a broken record but what is wrong with these? How does RCI expect to get great deposits for their members if there is such a spread with what they give versus what it costs to get a trade? The differences just keep getting larger.

I have noticed this huge difference is apparent in Southwest Florida when there is limited inventory. These are just two examples. They need to entice owners to deposit by treating them right.

It pains me to stay a member which I have due to short term trades being a great value but I rather have more fairness.

I have noticed that in the other direction...I have gotten more at times for my Cold Spring weeks than it "costs" to trade in. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason.

I agree that it is becoming a big problem. For one of mine, however, I did get more trading power than it costs to trade into my home resort. I don't know why, but I did.

There are some areas where the disparity is huge, and I have noticed North Carolina coastal regions are higher trading power than owners can get in TPU's. I would be very upset by that. I also noticed Presidential Villas at Plantation Resort has a huge difference in the July weeks sometimes. It changes.

The good TPU's are when a resort bulk banks large numbers of weeks, like when Hilton does its big bulk bankings. Those units have relatively low trading power, so I get a good value at those times.

I just reserved my Daytona sea breeze 2 bedroom Thanksgiving week and would have received 19 TPU's if I exchanged it in RCI. Seems a little lower than years past !

I guess high fees for everything aren't making them enough money. RCI wants to keep 30% of your deposit value, too, Panina!

Some are 40%. How high will it go?

I had a Surf Club at Marco Island I couldn’t use and I didn’t need anymore hgvc points. I deposited it in II as it was an affiliate and I had a choice. I know in II I will get a fair equivalent trade. I would be out of my mind if I deposited it in RCI. Weeks that have higher demand with less inventory available to members should get higher deposit point value not less to entice deposits. This makes no sense.

I stopped giving stuff to RCI years ago ... my one resort runs a rental pool for the deeded fixed weeks that their owners can NOT use. Makes life easier and simplier.

Keep in mind that it's only a very small percentage of timeshare owners that read TUG or even start to understand what it is they own. Most drink the Koolaid at the sales table, find out it's not the greatest thing since sliced bread and then fall victim to RCI, II or the we-can-get-rid-of-your-timeshare scams that calling the month after you make your purchase. Every time I talk with anyone at any resort we're staying at, I'm amazed at the lack of knowledge about the product they own. Many have no clue about how to trade. Several simply return year after year to the resort they purchased and never give strong consideration to exchanging. A surprising number don't even own a timeshare. They've either rented or been gifted the week by someone they know who does own the timeshare.

RCI and I.I. are a lot like the casino's in Vegas. They thrive on the inability of those they serve to understand the product. They take advantage of their ignorance. I don't see this changing anytime soon. The average RCI or I.I. member never seems to notice these discrepancy's.
