Hi everyone,

Is it possible to rent out less then a week as an owner (resale) at Westin Lagunamar Cancun? We find the 14 day stay a bit long, 7 not enough. 9-11 might be ideal for us. Flights are also cheaper if one day is weekday. We do have staroptions from a mandatory resort so we can use them to book less then a week. However because we do not have a lot we prefer to use them in the gold season.

Say as an owner i book 2 weeks back to back. If i I use 9-11 days can i rent out the remaining 3-5? What would the procedure be?

many thanks

Unfortunately, this will be difficult because you cannot get a separate confirmation for a guest for just a partial week. You don't have Staroptions so there is no way to split a week between 2 different occupants.

i thought it might be difficult. I wish the resorts had the option to split the week for a fee (that would include reservation cost and cleaning etc)

They do have that option - it's called buying from the developer. ;) But of course you saved thousands of dollars by buying resale - a MUCH better deal.

That being said, short stays are not easy to rent at all. Few people are going to go to Mexico for a short stay, and finding someone who wants to add your short stay to their reservation dates is difficult, because the dates would have to match exactly.

I would bite the bullet and suffer the pains of going on vacation for 2 weeks. Poor you. ;)
