We own several weeks in the Hilton and Vistana systems.

For two of our properties, we would like to usually only stay a few days (NYC and Vegas). If I book a home week to rent:

1) Can I split the week and personally use a few days and rent out the remaining 4 days?

2) Can I split the week and rent out the 3 day and 4 day guest certs to two different renters?

(Paying for a housekeeping in-between both scenarios)

Hilton and Vistana have different rules, so I will only address Vistana. (Resort systems all have different rules, so you may get responses that don't apply to Vistana on this forum.)

-You cannot split a home resort reservation into 2 stays, because by it's very definition, a home resort reservation is for 7 night.

-If you do split 7 nights into 2 confirmations, it becomes a Staroption reservation and you lose the view, and any owner's priority that the original reservation had. You will have 2, floating view, Staroption reservations.

The other option is to check-in renters yourself, at the front desk, with the reservation under your name:

-It's going to be hard to find a renter who is willing to travel all the way to the destination with no confirmation in their name, and then take the chance that you will be there to check them in, under your name.

-If the reservation is under your name and credit card, you are personally responsible for your guest. *You can add guests to your reservation at the front desk, but you can't take your name off of the reservation at the front desk.

I checked a few húndred people in at bonnet Creek, ocean walk and royal vista. It more then paid for my trips. Towards the end it got harder. Bonnet creek limited two rooms at a time. So short stay reservations worked best. The last day check in a few people they are staying for a few weeks.
