I'm bumping up this old thread. Last week I matched Aulani for next summer. I called today and the RCI vacation counselor told me that Aulani comes in the system as specific unit numbers. She told me that I have unit 289. When I googled it, I found a Disboards thread that it is a 3 bedroom grand villa. The reservation from RCI says I have a two bedroom.

Are the units that specific? I can't call to Auluni right now and was wondering if any Tuggers knew. Thanks!

Do you have a Sunday check-in?

I think the RCI rep is wrong - it looks like the unit type code I had before. See my post above for link to my unproven decoding. 289 - 2 bedroom, ocean view, Sunday check-in.

If so, that would be the first time this has been done at any DVC resort. If you call Member Services, about two weeks after the exchange is confirmed, they can tell you what it is definitively.
They normally get the info on Tuesday, sometimes also on Thursday. If the exchange is too close, it may be a week but that should be the longest.

Updating---

I have my official Auluni confirmation number now. We are in a two bedroom ocean view unit. We have been so blessed with our RCI trades. I still can't believe this is really happening!!!

We're going to go to Anaheim for five days first, and then fly San Diego to HNL. Then HNL overnight back home.

Thanks for all your help!

RCI points. Depending on the July week it was somewhere between 113,500 points -134,000 points.
One benefit of starting a points search is you can start the search 2 years plus and not worry about the points expiring because you aren't attached to specific points with an expiration date. It uses the oldest points you have available but the points you had when you started the search has usually been long gone when you set up a long term search. With tpu's you can't extend or combine with an ongoing search in place. The same benefit of long term searches would have applied to other systems with points crossover grids like Hilton, which I think have snagged the other Auluni deposits.
