Anyone with recommendations for sport fishing on the Big Island leaving from/near Waikoloa? Two of us interested for sure; two more might be as well. Would prefer a private charter, but am open to a shared one if the experience is exceptional. Less concerned about price.

The harbor is about 30 minutes from Waikoloa. There are dozens of boats available.

I can’t say I’ve had much luck. I used Camelot once and Sea Wife twice and struck out all three times. According to our captain last October, the water has been colder than normal and the fishing slow. Maybe all that lava will heat things up.

I’ll probably try again this October but it helps to check the docks first and see if anyone is catching anything.
