I’ve been trying to book into Sunrise Lodge for ski trip in January, February or March but see zero availability, even with very flexible dates and duration. I know that is prime ski season, but nothing at all comes up. For non-owners, do we now have a more limited window? I booked 2 years ago with the “classic” reservation system and had no problems 6 months out.

You have to book at 9 months out for a ski week usually.

Correct, I see several unbookable random 2-day openings. I agree with @PigsDad. Now you will need to wait to pickup cancellations.

btw, Valdoro looks the same.

I was able to get 3 day stays in both of these resorts in February 2019. I looked back and see I booked on 5/21/18 and 6/1/18. When I booked that was pretty much the only bookable (more than 2 nights)availability in January or February.

As you get closer to ski season, some will start cancelling their reservations. I have found this usually at 4-6 weeks before their scheduled reservation, in the past.

We have a long weekend booked for next winter. Booked it about 9 months out. Have not seen availability for larger units and Valdoro for Jan/Feb.

Since there are only a couple of Mountain / Ski resorts in the network, and HGVC keeps adding owners I assume the demand rooms in ski season is going to get tighter every year.

HGVC seems to be adding lots of beach resorts lately, but i have not heard of any new mountain resorts recently.

Good point. It appears that the ILG/Marriott system has many more mountain properties. We are glad we also have a toe-hold in Vistana because we can use II getaways to gain access to many resorts in the mountains via Marriott, Hyatt, Westin/Starwood and Grand Peak resorts in Breckenridge, Steamboat, Vail etc. Even if it is $1200 - $1500 for a getaway, that avoids having to own and be required to pay the same maintenance fee every year.
