We need something for a few days. The RCI timeshares in Salou seem a bit vague so maybe we just need to stay in Tarragona (in an AirBnb.)

What do you think about either location?

In Spain, look into Paradores. They are historical buildings, convents, castles, monasteries, etc, that have been taken over for historical preservation as luxury hotels etc. We stayed in one in Tarragona, though when I looked today, I didn't see that one listed. It was a wonderful experience. You can book through ww.paradorsofspain.com/ from the U.S. and in English. You can also book Spanish Renfe trains at the same site. Beware, though that the site in not secure. Use the toll free phone number if you choose to book.

I have Ona Club Novelty on hold. I'm just not so sure about it. And I'm not sure when we will arrive so it is 50/50 if an exchange albeit 9k RCI points is worth it.

Some of the paradores can be booked securely online thru booking.com, a site I use frequently.

So we ended up staying in Ona Suites Salou (which is listed as Tarragona.) It is a European beach resort area. I think that the week cost $239 RCI exchange fee and another $77 for the points. There was a fee for electricity and a tax on those age 17+. It was a 1 bedroom with a trundle sleeper sofa. We were also able to request a rollaway bed. So five in a 1 bedroom, 1 bath was a bit tight, but then again, it was Europe. It had a washer and an outdoor drying rack. It also had a heater outside on the balcony. Housekeeping did pop in a few times to bring extra supplies. There are permanent residents in the apartment hotel and they were always quite pleasant.

Location was great as it was just a block away from the main beach road. It was also maybe a half mile walk to the train station. We did have a rental car which was difficult as parking was next to impossible. We did drive into Barcelona one day (I wouldn't recommend that one.) But it was certainly an adventure that everyone will remember.

I would not hesitate to stay there again.
