I paid $427.00 for a Getaway to Marriott’s Fairway Villas. I was charged $62.45 For taxes. Taxes in NJ are 6.25 in NJ. I did buy the insurance policy for $30 but that was a separate line item.

This is the description of the line item I was referring to above:
The credit card you provided has been charged 489.45 (US) plus 30.59 (US) for Allianz Trip Protection.

I must be missing something because the taxes do not compute. $427 x .0625= $26.68. The cost of the Getaway + the correct tax = $453.68 NOT $489.45

There are hotel occupancy taxes in addition to regular tax in NJ.

I don't know if all of this applies but I found this on a quick search for hotel taxes Atlantic city.

"In Atlantic City, the hotel tax rate is a whopping 13.625%, and New Jersey tacks on a $3 occupancy fee and a $2 “tourism promotion” fee every night you stay."
