As was suggested here, we contacted the Edgewater beach Resort, and were told they did have a buyback. Cost us 2 years maintenance ( plus special assessment). The initial paperwork was a bit flimsy, and didn't even list all our names. Since we have a family friend who is a long time real estate lawyer, we showed it to him. He ended up dealing with it, trying to figure out what the timeshare actually was. Eventually he concluded it was all very unclear, perhaps even dubious. There is actually no Edgewater Beach resort, that's just a name they use. After back and forth with their lawyer, he managed to get paperwork that they say satisfies the issue. We signed it, he sent it with a cover letter that stated this signed form will serve as legal release, with our check. He got a form that said our timeshare license was no longer. Our lawyer says the whole thing just looks hokey, but if they accepted the check and form, we are now done.
If anyone else has an Edgewater beach they want out of, they can go this route, just make sure the paperwork is done right.
