I have approximately 32,000 restricted Star Options, that is I can only use then to make reservations less than 60 days before check-in. I am hoping to use these Star Options to either:

1) book a stay over Veterans day (Nov 11) weekend at either resort Palm Desert, preferably in a one bedroom, OR
2) use them to extend a long weekend in Maui in mid-October, I am hoping to book a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night in a studio.

Calling on Star Option experts, how likely is either of these trades? I am willing to make the reservations at EXACTLY the 60-day mark.

My experience has been that inventory often shows up right before the 60-day mark as people cancel reservations prior to the penalty deadline. It's hit or miss, but I have scored a few last-minute reservations in the 58 to 62 day window.

I have 67,000 star option points that will expire at the end of the year. Our family cannot use them? Any ideas on what to do with them. I hate to see them go to waste. Can I sell them or just try to give them away to friends?

Could you still book your home resort and rent it out?

#1 - no idea since I don't stay in Palm Desert.

#2 - more likely than not if you are diligent about checking multiple times per day. Because you are looking for October, I think people will cancel within the 60 day window - the restriction doesn't really matter to most because it is so late in the year and the fee is relatively immaterial. October is a lesser demand time than school schedule weeks. But given that there might be one or two weekends that fit your schedule, you should be diligent about checking multiple times daily. Plus studios are generally more available than 1brs.
