For an owner at a voluntary resort (Lagunamar) who bought via resale and is making a reservation at under 8 months from the travel date, does the reservation still need to be for 7 nights. Any way to make a reservation for a shorter timeperiod?

Thanks!

Yes, you can only reserve a seven night reservation as you are still booking your owned week. You can always make the reservation and only use the number of nights you actually want to stay. You don't get any credit for the unused nights.

No. A week at a time since you don't have StarOptions.

The problem is there are only 6 consecutive nights with availability the week I want to go. The 7th night on both ends is no longer available. So I was wondering if there was any way to just book the 6 nights and count it as my "week".

The availability you're viewing of six days is for StarOptions reservation not home resort reservations.

Can a voluntary owner even see StarOption availability. I guess the question is, is the OP looking at the little calendar that shows the green for days that are available, or are they actually searching for availability?

Don't assume the system works logically. Since it's resale and voluntary it can't reserve less than a week so it's displaying something...obviously incorrect.

When you go to the Make a Reservation page, there is a small calendar that shows home resort availability. Green for open, Yellow for low availability and white for not available. I wonder if this is what the OP is looking at or if they are actually trying to do a mock reservation.

As mentioned above, the calender is unreliable, you need to actually use the search function and search for your dates.

You can only make a home resort reservation for the season/unit/size that you own, for 7 nights.

You "shouldn't" have Staroptions - however, we sometimes see voluntary deeds that get transferred with Staroptions intact, in error.

If the Villa Finder shows you Staroption reservations that you can reserve, you can try to make a 6 night reservation and see what happens. It probably will not go through - but it's an interesting experiment.

It really doesn't matter if it's the calender or something else...resale weeks don't get anything other than a week at a time. Yet somehow the OP sees availability for six days, so we know they see something they shouldn't, unless they also have another week with StarOptions...

Another way to confirm if a VOI transferred with StarOptions is to click on the "WHAT I OWN" link from the Dashboard and look at the details for the week. There is a field for "VSN MEMBER". If it indicates YES, then the week somehow tranferred with StarOptions. I have had resale mandatory weeks transfer where that field indicated NO and had to have them fix it. It is a 100% manual process for them to mark that field correctly on transfer.

One warning - if you own a mandatory deed(s) with Staroptions in the same account - it will show you Staroption reservations and take the Staroptions from the mandatory deed(s).

That's also not entirely accurate. I had a resale week show up with StarOptions here. So, now you know that the system is not completely reliable.

I suspect that youe What I Own page probably showed YES under VSN MEMBER for your week that transferred. Just like my mandatory week said NO. The system was wrong, but functioned based on the actual data in there.

I just bought the Lagunamar via resale and am trying to book the home week reservation for 2018. The only Platinum Plus season week the rest of the year that I can travel is in November. Using StarOptions from a Vistana Villages week that I also own I can see 6 consecutive nights available that week but not 7. Looks like I might be depositing the Lagunamar week.

That's probably your best option at this point. If you have a 2-bed week, consider depositing it as separate 1-bed and studio, and you still have a good chance of upgrading to a larger unit at WLR via II.
