so I’m thinking of purchasing the Maui Westin KOR...I’ve been watching the prices and Tug add’s for years. (I own Disney and love it). How many of you out there can own one of the other time location time share contracts and reserve February time frame (Valentines week) and actually get a reservation (ocean view)...I obviously want to save money by buying a resort that can stay there but not pay the cost or MX fee’s. I know what the answer is..buy where you want to stay...but how many have pulled off the ability to stay in February, not owning the property. I also love the Hyatt property close to whalers village..but realize that your going to pay the man for those...any thoughts on those units. Thanks ahead of time for answering...

The answer is 0 - you cannot reserve ocean view with staroptions - you can only reserve floating view and ocean front and you won't find any OF availability with Staroptions in February. BTW - since Prez week includes a Fed/school holiday, it's the most popular week of the winter and it can be difficult to reserve. If that's the week you need, better buy in Hawaii.

I'm afraid it's the same answer for Hyatt Ka'anapali Beach resort. Availability is extremely tight unless you own there--and because you're looking for trades at the most popular time of the year, your chances are slim to none of getting an internal exchange, let alone an external exchange through II. Like Denise advised regarding Starwood/Vistana, you'll need to pony up the cash and be willing to pay the very high maintenance fees if you're looking to assure yourself of Hyatt Hawaii in February.
