Is there a market onsite at the Westin Lagunamar? We want to pick up some beer and fruit on our first day. Just enough to get by on until can get to the Soriana market. Thanks.

There is, but the prices are inflated. If you walk down to the Kukulcan Plaza, you will find a grocery store upstairs that will serve you better. It's about a 12-minute walk. I take a backpack as my carry-on bag when flying. I use it after we get to Lagunamar to carry groceries (and beer) back from the store. I have also seen people using regular wheely carry-ons to bring back the groceries they purchase. There is also a La Europea that is closer...across the road and down about 3 blocks. Wide wine and liquor selection at good prices, with some beer, snacks, and a deli counter for cheeses and meats (and baguettes).

I take a rolling cooler as my carry-on. It's really close to being as big as a standard carry-on and serves multi- purpose functions. (Has a removable hard side liner too) I use it to take frozen food to locations that allow imports (Not Mexico) then use it while there as a cooler and use it to bring home souvenirs on the way home.

Also, there are several threads on the Vistana board regarding Lagunamar. Shopping/Restaurants/Transportation threads. Quite helpful.

This onsite market is fine for the first day for just a few things. I went there every morning for soda, muffins, milk etc.

I find OXXO quite useful .

They generally have milk , juice , eggs , limes & some fruit ( apples / pears / bananas ) tortillas ,bread
rice , cooking oil etc .
OXXO is the universal local store in Mexico - and so the prices are general geared for the local population.

We will make one run to Walmart / Mega / Soriano and then try to fill in from OXXO or (if necessary ) the on resort market .

My comment is for Mexican resort areas in general & not specific to Lagunamar .
