When booking my floating gold week online, one of the options on the pull down menu was

"Occupy- Split Weeks Into Shorter Stays"

I selected it but received the below message...... What does "Occupy - Split Weeks Into Shorter Stays" actually mean and to whom is it available?

Occupy - Split Weeks Into Shorter Stays
At this time, we are unable to provide you with the opportunity to finalize this type of reservation online. To utilize just a portion of your week (Split Week, Split/Daily, or Daily Usage), please contact Owner Services.

I have heard that certain properties (like Shadow Ridge) allow you to split a 7 night reservation into a 4 night and a 3 night. I've never tried to do it -- and heard this at a BBQ from another owner, so have no idea if this is real. To be honest, your post is the first one that has made me think that this is real.

I will have to try....

Best,

Greg

A few in S and VA, a single resort in NC, MD, PA, and UT, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas
Properties that let you split week won't also let you lock off the unit.

Grande Vista will allow a split into a 4 day and a 3 day stay, which can be used at different times....instead of a full 7 days.

We used it once years ago, but haven't since. I could see some value.

I would recommend that one knows if there is a week available (thus allowing a partial of it) *previous* to the one you are reserving. You would then make your reservation and call the reservation line to choose your second partial week, depositing your partial at that time. I think this may be hard to do if you are hoping to get a partial week forward. What do I know though??

You can't both lockoff and split for the same week's usage. For the FL club you can also do a similar split across the properties using 3 days at one and 4 at another. Normally they control the days you can check in for such usage.

You can’t “deposit” a partial week; it is occupy only.

I guess a few of the Marriott Resorts do allow this. I know it is available at Marriott's Custom House (now called "Pulse"), and they set it up so that if you do split it you are only allowed to book ONE weekend (you will not be able to book another weekend for the other part of the split).

Marriott's reservation computers are not geared to handle this feature; therefore you have to do it only by telephone: 800-845-4226

As GrayFal correctly pointed out, you can not deposit splits into Interval International. Now I don't see why you wouldn't be able to rent your split (since it is your ownership) but I have never heard of this being done.

Yes, I did use the wrong term. There should be another partial week available before you "relinquish" your reserved, occupied, week into splits.

Actually, Custom House has a unique Split Week option that allows single-night usage. There's some reference to it beginning with post #25 in this 2013 thread.

Now back on topic ... ;)
