Hi: I am in the process of joining RCI for the first time. I guess I am kinda new but have travelled and I am able to find good deals. Is this one from RCI? Just wondering if I can get some feedback and some pointers. How much advance time to they require. Is there any hidden fees or things to look out for? Any advise?

What is an Extra VacationsSM getaway?
An Extra Vacationssm Getaway gives you access to RCI’s timeshare resort inventory without having to exchange your Points. You can purchase a week (7 nights) at the available destination of your choice, and choose from thousands of options at fantastic everyday low prices. You can book Extra Vacations getaways regardless of whether you have Points remaining in your account.

You can purchase timeshare vacations for a flat fee with RCI's Extra Vacations. Some resorts are all-inclusive or have additional fees for parking/internet/cleaning, etc, so READ THE FINE PRINT of any Extra Vacation (or exchange, for that matter) before you purchase one. Extra Vacation prices can be very low or very high, or anywhere in between. Availability always varies. With rising exchange costs, I almost always check to see if buying an Extra Vacation is cheaper than what my maintenance fees plus trading fees would add up to. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy an Extra Vacation and save my deposited timeshare for another trade.

Even more fun than Extra Vacations is RCI's Last Call vacations. IF you can get away in the next couple of months, you can find some great bargains there! I've stayed in 3BR oceanfront units (off season, but still beautiful!) for as little as $249/wk.

Thank you for your reply. Great advice, How often do they advertise a "Last call"

Last Calls are perennially available for rentals of 7 nights as soon as (iirc) 45 days before move-in. Do Not expect big units in prime locations. They are usually studios in 2nd tier TSs in off or shoulder seasons. Think beach locations in Winter or ski resorts in 'mud' season.

RCI has a sale on today (Feb.4th) only for 45% off the price of many Extra Vacations. They must be taken by June 9th/2019.
To the OP - these sales happen nearly monthly but selection is limited -both for destination and size of units. Like the Last Calls, you will not find many 2 bedroom or larger units in Gold or Silver Crown resorts included in the sales inventory.
