We bought a $995 package about a month ago from Marriott and have yet to see the charge show up on our credit card. For those of you with experience, does Marriott charge it immediately or will it be when we book the dates to use the package?

Make sure your first payment wasn't charged on the date you agreed to buy the package. Then they usually break the rest into monthly payments- for 10 months or a year. Al payments must be completed before you can go on the return trip.

We signed off on the paperwork for a one-time payment in full. The question remains as to when they will run the charge.

For us the charge was almost instant. We purchased an Encore package in Maui on Sept 6th. The first charge shows on my credit card on Sept 7th.

I imagine it depends on each sales center to a certain extent.

Thanks. It has been 5 weeks. I wonder if they will only charge us when we make a reservation for the stay. BTW, we have that extended to 2 years as we told them that we won't be back in the next 12 months.

I would expect them to charge right away, as that kind of locks you into going. I imagine a certain percentage of people might change their minds unless they charge the card quickly. but suppose its possible they Have they contacted you about making a reservation yet? Think they have already called me two or three times. I spoke with an agent once, and the other times they left me a VM.

We signed up for an Encore package as well. Ours is broken up into monthly payments, but there is a large box in the middle of the first page of the agreement that lays out how the payments run. I would think they would have to spell out the payment schedule (even if 1-time payment) on that agreement somewhere.

Mine just said paid in full and 0 owed. We had to sign a separate paper with our cc information. Since ours has a 24 months expiration I don't expect them to call us yet.

Did you get the 24 month expiration written into the contract? I probably won't use ours until 2020, due to all the travel packages i got before the merger. I asked about this when we purchased, and they said it was not problem for me to extend the package before it expires.,

24 months out for expiration was filled into the contract that we signed. It is still puzzling that no charge has been made to our cc.

I think your whole package may have slipped through the cracks. With us, we were charged immediately and got a call about reserving a trip within 2 weeks after we signed. I would call and check on this.

vacation forever, if they haven't called you YET (even with the 24 month time frame) I'd get worried that something went amiss with processing your package. I know when we have purchased these in the past, we usually get a call within a week or 2 of arriving back home to ask us to plan our encore package trip. I'd give MVC a call.

Thank you. If it slips through the cracks I won't worry about it for now, since nothing was charged. When we are ready to travel in 24 months' time, we will call them 10 months ahead to book. If they couldn't find it, it will also be fine.

If you want, you could call the number listed on the paperwork to ask some basic questions on scheduling, play dumb and ask about booking for 19 months out, etc. they will probably try to look up your package and will either find it and all is well. Otherwise if they don't locate it, you can have them track it down if you still want the package.
