I keep going back and forth on this. I have plans in November to visit both Marco Island and Safety Harbor. Both are not on the beach side. With red tide thinking maybe I shouldn’t go, then thinking just go, I can always leave. What would you do? Anyone there now? Anyone live in the area and can tell me how it is?

Seems like it depends on how you like to spend your vacation and how much of an issue the red tide is if you don't go into the water.

Does it smell so you can't enjoy sitting outside? Will it limit your ability to walk on the beach?

I don’t need to go to the beach. More concerned about bacteria in the air and getting sick.

I live in Tampa.... Red tide happens every summer some worse than others, but by November you will be fine. About 3 weeks ago I was in Bonita Springs and Ft. Myers area all was fine, Pinellas and Citris county beaches have had a few bad days, they seem to be primarily over now and clean up has been very fast.

By Nov... I wouldn’t worry at all.

Panina, My aunt just arrived today in Naples to her condo at Port of the Islands and it's right on the water and she just told me that there is no smell and her and her friends are going to Marco Island tomorrow, I will call her back and ask her to check out the red tide and get back to you

Why take a chance at all? Go to the east coast instead where they currently have no issues this year.

My friend just posted went to ft Myers beach. No dead fish, some odor, and discolored water

She is very happy and she loves her condo. She choose Port of the Islands and the condo she bought came with a deeded dock. She takes her boat to her friends homes and she finds it’s quicker then driving.

I believe that if you go to the Sunpass Website that you will find a list of the retailers who sell the Sunpass. For what it's worth I purchased mine at Publix some five years ago and have used it ever since.

Can you buy one out-of-state for a future trip?

Kurt

You can order the stick on transponder on line and move it from car to car if necessary. I keep mine in my back pack for all future trips to Florida. Just keep the online account funded with $10 or so then you will always be prepared. Register your personal vehicle and leave it there, register rentals as you get them (don't forget to remove the rentals).
