I have been looking at resale contracts and see most of them saying that you automatically get an RCI account with a Wyndham points purchase. From what info I have gathered it costs about 239$ to book a week with Wyndham points to an RCI resort. My questions are:

1. What RCI resorts would I have access to with Wyndham points? Is it only the resorts in the Wyndham directory where it shows how many points are needed?

2. Once I have the Wyndham ownership with an RCI account, will I have to pay any yearly dues for the RCI account?

3. Are there any other RCI related fees I should expect to pay if using Wyndham points towards their system? ( I am looking into Club Wyndham points not Worldmark)

In general, you would have "access" to book the RCI resorts that are listed in the RCI directory. However RCI is an exchange system, so for any of the resorts to be available to book - inventory has to first be deposited into RCI by someone - a resort owner, or bulk inventory from the HOA or developer. Some resorts rarely have units deposited into RCI.

There is no yearly dues per se. But you are indirectly paying for that RCI account is provided as part of your Club Wyndham program fee that all Club Wyndham members pay as part of their maintenance dues.

Yes, other fees are possible when booking thru RCI. Some resorts have a per day resort amenity fee, others have a utility surcharge, and in some cases if you are booking for less than a full week - the resort might have an additional housekeeping fee. These type of fees are becoming increasingly common as resorts find ways to charge exchangers.

I currently have about 50K points sitting in RCI that I am probably not going to use because of the additional fees and the difficulty in getting enough priority to make a reservation. I complained about this at a recent owner update and was told that since all my points are in Club Wyndham Access they have less priority or usage in RCI since they are non deeded. This was news to me and it makes moving points into RCI pretty useless as far as I am concerned.

RCI is a supply and demand. The parent company of Wyndham is also the parent company of RCI. So the two have a relationship.

When you trade via RCI you pay in Wyndham Points, but on fixed point grid, based on unit size and season. There are fees, and the current RCI fee for a weeks exchange is $239. If you buy resale you can only trade into RCI WEEKS inventory. In RCI there are two inventory pools, one for full week ONLY stays, and one for points deposits, which can be booked in various increments on days. POINTS inventory is only available if you purchase retail, and NOT resale.

There is only inventory in RCI that another person or points system has deposited. So it is not like ALL inventory is there and then people book it. Actually a lot of inventory never makes it to search, as people have OGS (On Going Searches) that match inventory to requests before it is even makes it available to be put in the inventory pool. So high demand stuff almost always goes to requests.

50K in Wyndham points in RCI will only get you a studio in the lowest season possible. That is really not a lot of points to work with. To obtain an week exchange in a 2 BR in high season requires 205K PLUS the RCI fees.

The only real reason to use RCI is to obtain an exchange you can get though Wyndham directly.
