I think it’s a complicated issue. The islands were devastated. For many resorts, I think they believe more and more stories about the devastation and slow recovery will discourage many to never return, so in turn, they give a hopeful progress report which will likely prove to have an unrealistic deadline. I was amazed in earlier threads when the storms were approaching how some were clueless as to the devastation these storms could cause-in one thread you will see someone suggesting that in three months, everything will be up and running. On some other sites when they mentioned the cruise ships recently returning to St. Thomas and Tortola, some were asking questions about returning to the islands in January as if they believe everything has been repaired. Someone posted a very comprehensive article in another thread that gives an island by island update. In it, you can see the slow recovery process as many areas are still without power after 3 months. The islands will recover, but it will take time.
