I just found out I got an [exchange.] The problem is I can't go! But I know this is a hard exchange to get. [The resort] rents this week for over $4000. Do you think I could rent it and if so what do you think I could get? I have 24 hours to let them know if I want to confirm the exchange. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

Renting an RCI exchange is a violation of their membership terms and conditions. If RCI finds out, they can cancel your membership and the exchange. Your renters who forked out a hefty premium ($4000) may arrive and not have a place to stay. Then, you are out of the RCI membership fee, exchange fee, and rental income. The renters may also seek reimbursement for travel expenses and fees to reserve a hotel. So not worth it but YMMV.

Same thing goes for II. I had my Interval membership suspended on the suspicion that I was renting an exchange even though I wasnt. Too many things can go wrong for it to be worth it.

I had the exact same thing happen. I owned a unit I was listing for rent that I also happened to have an exchange for. I work exchanges from every angle maximizing value. I may exchange into a week at a resort that I own and then rent the owned week out. II put a temp ban on my account until I notified them of my situation.

For obvious reasons exchange companies cannot allow random people to piggy back and profit off of their businesses.

You cannot safely rent out an exchange. Can you get away with it? Maybe, maybe not, but it is by no means worth it.
