Since early 2002, my Points allotment has been at 59,600. Today, I woke up to the realization I may be onto something. In checking my deed to Vistana Fountains, although floating, it says Week 51. And in checking with RCI, they receive a summer high season week each year to deposit in my Points account. that week costs 67,000 points to rent BUT I only get 59600 points. Also,RCI has me down on the Weeks side as owning a Blue week. when it is clearly a Prime Red.
Am I missing something like 7400 points per year. Or did RCI figure out a way to , well, you know. I am hoping , for once, that I am in the right but you never know. Your thoughts are appreciated.

I'll take a stab at it. You said you own floating whatthey are probably alloting to you is a share of the total of the floating weeks. If you actually owned fixed week 51, then you would get the number of points assigned to week 51. But when you havea floating week, theyadd up the points assigned to all of the floating weeks and take an average, Then every floating owner gets that amount of points. I don't know this to be fact for your resort, but generally that is how it works with other points resorts.

. . . if you want to be confused

One of the reasons RCI has pulled the Points breakdown out of the website is because of the following:
FIXED WEEKS HAS ONE VALUE. FLOATING WEEKS HAVE ANOTHER VALUE.
In my resort - Club Trinidad - We are floating with weeks but in our points we have decided to be fixed BECAUSE the chart that is in the RCI BOOK and the values which WERE in the website were different and would make NO SENSE to our members.

It looks to me that this is what is happening to you. I would suggest calling the resort and asking the Points rep. I DOUBT if they know about what I just wrote but simply ask for the resorts RCI affiliate representative to call you. They are ALL very sharp = MUCH better than the VR's.

Bill

P.S. Caribbean beat me to it . . . we are giving the same answer in different words.

Yep - that's exactly what the situation is with Pahio (and all floating week resorts). If the week floats, the points assigned are the average for all weeks in the period through which the week floats.

What you describe is exactly what I was told before I converted my Sheraton Vistana and exactly the way it has always worked. If you have a floating week, they average the values of all weeks your unit floats. My Fountains unit floats something like the best 43 weeks of the year, though it is deeded for week 52.

If you use your own week and book during the Home Week Reservation Period, you are only charged the 59k+ points that they credit you with each year, though they did get this wrong the one time I did it and I had to call and have them make an adjustment.

If you reserve at any other time of the year, you would be charged the full points value and pay an exchange fee. That hasn't worked very well for me, so I may pull my floating week out of Points at some time.

My fixed Vistana Spas week gives me the same point value that it costs to book it. It is actually a better value because the maintenance fees are a little lower and I get more points for it every year. I've been thinking of selling one of them and can't decide which one, since we've often used the floating Fountains week and the Spas week is not a week we could ever use.

When I did it a few years ago, it was $499 and they gave you an extra 20,000 bonus points. I just called the RCI Points phone number (you'll find it on the website) and they took care of it. They applied the membership fees I had paid in advance for RCI Weeks to the $499.
