I'm trying to trade to get consecutive weeks in a non-Marriott and then in a Marriott but I'm running into either gaps or conflicting weeks with II. How often does II add to their exchange inventory? If it is once a day, what time of day do they usually add to the available inventory? Or, is it on-going throughout the day?

I have talked with the Marriott desk at II and they can't do much until there is an opening. Since I deposited first they won't let me put in a request. I would prefer to do the entire trade on line because it's quicker. I'm flexible with dates over a 2 month span for 09. Most likely August through October. I'm trying to get Myrtle Beach, Gatlinburg or Hilton Head. Any ideas?

I see your time frame is August thru October in 2009.

Just keep in mind that Marriott weeks can only be reserved 12 to 13 months in advance first, then they may be deposited into the I.I. system. Hence you may not see Marriott weeks for the time frame that you seek for yet another few months (as they have yet to be reserved and deposited).

I can't speak for resorts systems other than Marriott.

I'm sure someone else will contribute to this thread.

The rep may be getting confused by your terminology- once you make a deposit you cannot put in a request first (since the unit is already deposited) but can make an ongoing search. Now is the ideal time to place the on-going search, so you can be right in line as units become deposited. As posted above, August units are first getting deposited and week by week more Aug.-Oct. units will find there way into II's inventory as people make their '09 reservations and then deposit.

It is possible to approach this several ways. First, you can ask for it as a 2 week block. Many don't know you can do that but you can. However, if they get one week and not both at one time, or even if they get both weeks but you only qualify for one, they will skip over you and move to the next person. Thus your chances of success are much lower. Another option, and one I like better in this situation is to place two requests that complement each other. Then when you get one week, modify the other request accordingly which you'll likely have to do by phone since you'll then only want one specific check in day. Remember you can cancel with no penalty and have your search re-instituted at the same place in the trade line for up to 24 hours from when they confirm it.

What exactly are you trying to get and what unit size do you need? Gatlinburg should be easy before Oct, HH and MB will get easier as you get closer to Oct. You definitely want an ongoing search, you can still look around online if needed.
