I am so excited!!! Just received exhange into Ocean Watch July 4th week. (June 28-July 5th, 2009). This will be our first stay in Myrtle Beach.

Spent the passed 2 summer vacations in HHI and this last time at SW was not great. I am soooo ready for a change!

We received an A/C for depositing the SW week but DH will not do anymore trips this year. The a/c will expire July 3, so now I can try to use it the week before MB. Will def have to wait for flexchange and will have to be beyond very lucky to pick up the extra week at OW. HHI could be an option, or Williamsburg or maybe Outer Banks. Does anyone have any suggestions/tips? (we have kids that will both be 7 y/o).

Last month we received our exchange confirmation into DVC Beach Club Villas, 1 BR for March 15,2009 so I am so loving II right now!

Congratulations on getting your exchange! :whoopie: Just curious, how long did you have your request in for?

Also curious why SW was not that great this year for you.

I had the exchange request in for OW since July 3rd. I had reserved my SW week for July 3-10 that morning and immediately deposited SW and requested OW. So the trade is apples to apples (except that July 4th week at OW is plat plus) with a 12 month out request.

The problem I had with SW was that I thought the pools were overcrowded. Also, most days we could not even get one chair by either pool. (people were reserving all of the lounges by 8:00 am by placing a towel on the chair...most of the day these lounges were not used.) Myself, and others I spoke with, called the front desk to see why they were not enforcing the 45 min rule and they were supposed to begin enforcing it. When I saw that they only did this once, I called the front desk again and asked to speak with a manager, who never called me back. I think the fact that the manager would not work with me was the worst part of the whole thing. Several other owners there are also not returning next year because of this.

Also, the jelly fish were stinging that week, so that kept a lot of people off of the beach.

I have written my complaint to Marriott so will see if they respond.

Pool Lounges and Towels Left on Them

We have been timesharing since 1991.

People reserving pool chairs/lounges with towels is a continuing saga.

I doubt that it will ever go away. I admit that it is annoying to many.

Good luck at Oceanwatch.

Unfortunately a lot of the big resorts on the beach or with great pool areas experience this problem. I know this was always the case at Disney's Yacht Club Resort every year we vacationed there. That and non guests trying to sneak in and use Storm-a-long Bay. The lifeguards checked bracelet/ID's, and were constantly removing towels from unoccupied chairs, but there was always an issue. Hopefully this will not be as big a problem at OW.
