We have been vacationing annually in St. Augustine for over 45 years and have owned a timeshare there (The Beach Club at St. Augustine Beach) since 1982 but I had not heard of Ocean Gate. After Googling it I realize it is the Hibiscus Resort just south of St. Augustine Beach. We have never stayed there but did tour it in the early 80's before we bought at The Beach Club. I dont know if it has new owners and hence the name change, or if just part of it is called Ocean Gate. We and many others have always known it as The Hibiscus. It is right on the ocean and those beautiful wide beaches, but many of the units can not see the ocean from their windows, whereas all units from the 2nd floor up can at ours. The resort is right next to an RV park and other than the campground store there isnt really anything else walkable from the resort. There is a Winn Dixie about 2 miles north on A1A and just a little bit further north is a plaza with a Publix and many other stores as well as a few restaurants. You will have about an 8 mile drive up into the old part of St. Augustine from the resort.
If you have any other questions about St. Augustine feel free to ask Tugger
@Rolltydr who just moved there or myself.
