We are leaving next week for our first HVC resort reservation ( via Max as owners in HGVC) and I received a call saying that the resort wanted to help me pre-check in due to the large number of guests arriving. Is this normal? I was actually considering calling because we will be arriving very late and I was concerned about how check in worked at a time share (vs hotel). I don't want to walk into any traps, so before I return the call I thought I'd ask what was going on.
Thank you for your input.

it is a call to arrange a sale's meeting. They will talk about you upcoming reservation, maybe things to do, and then if you want to attend a sale's meeting. It is up to you whether it is something that you want to do but you do not have to attend. If you decide to, try to squeeze a good gift out....and just say No at the meeting.

That was what I suspected and I am not interested. I appreciate your confirmation.

you can chat with them and ask questions, if you have any, but decline the meeting

They keep hounding you until you answer and talk to them, so you may as well get it over with.

On my last trip, I declined the sales presentation during the pre-arrival call. When I arrived, they sent me to the VIP room on check-in, but did not try to talk me into a presentation, so maybe things are looking up.

I did not return the call (life got too busy) and while I did go to the "VIP" room on check-in, they were very nice and accepted my no without hassle. I was glad check-in was easy as I had been nervous about this. Hopefully you are correct and things are looking up regarding arrival procedure.

Just checked into P@Poipu Saturday. No Pre-checkin call. The concierge with the free chocolates didn't ask for a presentation so all is good. I figured I was on a "no" list, but around the hot tub I heard a couple people say they weren't asked to attend a presentation either. That seems like a big change.
