So I've traded into Marriott Ko Olina and am giving it to my parents, do I need to call Marriott after I do my trade or what do I need to do to verify they have the reservation?

You would purchase a guest certificate through Interval International.

I've already done that and filled out the info for my parents, didn't know if I needed to call Marriott to get a confirmation number or what that process is. I've only traded into DVC through II where I have to call and get a Disney confirmation number before I visit.

The II confirmation (PDF received via email) will have the Marriott reservation number on it (right hand side 8 digits). You can use that to look up the reservation on Marriott.com along with their name and checkin date. You don't need to call Marriott. If you can't find the reservation on Marriott.com, then you may want to call II to confirm the guest certificate details.

The only reason you need to call DVC is because of how their system works to attach guests to reservations due to how MDE works for their parks and other reservations. That isn't required with Marriott or any other system that I am aware of.

To add to what Dioxide posted, if the reservation doesn't come up in your parent's name, check your name. Sometimes the guest cert isn't immediately reflected at Marriott.
