Thanks everyone for all your help before we left. We are just returned from 2 weeks (April 14 -28). We really enjoyed the VCI and liked the laid back beach atmosphere compared to the Sands. We were disappointed with the beach - very shallow and seaweedy but we took floats and were able to float in the sea and enjoyed it anyways. The seaweed was almost like half cooked spaghetti and wasn't too gross. Went to the pool to swim. Most days our pool was quiet with other couples our age and sometimes we'd be the only ones in it. We are a childless couple - almost 50 - so was great for reading and relaxing. I'm a early morning person and would spend time at the beach with sometimes just the seaweed clean up crew and security. We were able to a get a hut at the beach and pool at any time of the day and actually had the same beach and pool hut for the 2 weeks which were close to our room. Our room 824 overlooked Pool #2 and had a slight view of the ocean as well. The room we got was the same as the first week on our II exchange. We were supposed to change to an ocean view the 2nd week but they kept us in the same room which wasn't a problem after our initial disappointment. Our room was close to the ocean too for easy access to our room from our beach hut. The restaurant was good and good prices. Also the prices in the mini mart were comparable to other stores so never went anywhere else. Our room was cleaned the same time every day around 9:00 which was great for going back and making lunch. You would never know the resort was 30 years old - IT DOES NOT show its age! Everything was very clean and the maintenance crews were always busy painting, etc., without ever being in the way. The staff appear to enjoy their jobs and take pride in the resort. We took the ferry over to Ilsa Mejures (sp?) and rented a golf cart and toured the island and snorkelled at Garaffon Castillon for $4usd and saw a lot of fish with hardly anyone there. Took someone's suggestion to go on Sundays which are supposed to be less crowded and appeared so. The fireworks the 2nd week on Thursdays for the VCI 30th celebration were very impressive - not sure why they were less impressive the first week. Lots to do in the area if you felt inclined to leave the resort. Any questions, please ask - I owe the favour!

Sorry..

Where in Mexico is VCI and what is the name of the resort? I could look it up, but am too lazy today! Sounds like a nice place. Thanks.

VCI is on the Bayside of Cancun. It is a timeshare resort that we traded with II. VCI = Vacation Club International and is one of the Royal Resorts.
