Just Because You Can Do Something Doesn't Mean You Should Do It!
Is there anyone who ever believed that exchanging to HHonors was a good deal?
You do realize that award redemptions to hgvc properties start at 50k points per night. .. I don't thing anyone was or will ever get 450000 points for their week..
Even with the devaluations..the cost to buy points from Hilton directly hasn't changed.
I must support and add to this Quote. The sales people and HGVC staff will always tout that you can use your HGVC points to go to any of the brands in the Hilton portfolio. Well you can, they are not lying. However, the conversion of HGVC points to Hilton Honors points has and most probably always will be very bad for the owner/HGVC member. I saw that the first time I calculated the conversion and forgot about it as an option to utilize my HGVC points. You get about 2 nights in a standard hotel room for a week of HGVC points in a 1 BR suite. The conversion is a benefit for Hilton since it gets a member/owner to utilize their points up for a less valuable use. The Hilton Hotel Corporation gets HGVC inventory to be rented out that it would not have otherwise had due to the conversion. The best use of points is the purpose that they were purchased for, HGVC resort stays.
