I've got a trip with a friend for early May 2024 starting in Lisbon and ending in Faro, for 6 nights, we're going to have a hire car and would like input on a route and places to stay, can be timeshare or not.
I have a preference for coastal locations, but don't mind going inland if there is something natural or culturally unique to see.
We won't be hiking, but don't have mobility issues, usually we do short city breaks and generally wander around and see what we find. We like some mild cultural sites as well as local food and wine.
Thanks in advance.

Hi.. take a look at the Pousadas.. also I would recommend a drive along the Alentejo coast ..stunning... and drive along the coast to Faro. CARVOEIRO is a cute town and base with TS the famous rock formations are nearby.ponte da Piedade and the caves. .Zambujeira do Mar, Odexiece are nice places..I can look up where I stayed.more like quintas... I'd also recommend Tavira and the pousada there . Driving is the best way to get around. Faro also has a nice historic area worth visiting.

The advice on exploring the Alentejo coast and driving along the coastal route to Faro is fantastic! Here's an article I found that you might find useful https://nymag.com/urbanist/article/the-alentejo.html. The article has suggestions on which vineyard to visit, where to stay, and eat. In visiting some cultural sites, I would like to suggest getting the services of a local tour guide such as https://gowithguide.com/portugal/guides who can enrich your experience with historical context and insights.

I'd travel down the alentejo coast and stop off at beach towns like Odeceixe or Zambujeira... gorgeous not busy coast. I can look up whete I stayed. Faro has a nice historical area. Carvoeiro and Tavira are worth a stop .
