Welcome to Hyatt!
Just purchased a Hyatt resale and closed escrow. What happens next? How does a resale owner call Hyatt and make a reservation? How long does it take Hyatt to change ownership? What can be done online and how?
Thanks....
Duke,
Congrats!! and welcome to the Hyatt Family! Starwood dominates the TUG BBS but being owners of both we consider Hyatt our "Home" resort. What size point week did you purchase?
The next step should be Hyatt processing the resort transfer fee (should have been collected during escrow) and they will automatically transfer the resort into your name. They already have a record of your intended purchase when you had to pass ROFR. I have purchased 2 resales and I think from escrow to getting paper work back from Hyatt is ~4 weeks or so. You will also receive another Corporate II account (similiar to Starwoods) so that notification will arrive like an additional 4 weeks later.
Once you get the welcome paperwork from Hyatt (and it isn't much, just a points schedule, weeks schedule, and statement of your points) you will be able to setup an online account to access your information. The online reservation and search functions are VERY nice, they just updated them a few months back so you can search for avail across multiple resorts at the same time... When you compare Hyatts online functionality to Starwood its embarrassing to Starwood! Hyatt allows you to do everything online!!
Hyatt sends out a "Destinations" newsletter every 2-3 months and all the current and back issues are avail in PDF format on Hyatt Owners website once you get access. Its talks about new resorts and always includes a points schedule by week, so its useful. Last year when we were at Breckenridge we went down to the sales center to setup a preview... talked the sales manager into "loaning" us a new owners book, and we forgot to return it when we left (never got to the preview) so we now have the book that cost that extra $8,000-$10,000 for those that purchase from the developers.
There is also a Hyatt Owners Yahoo Group... its OK, not as active as TUG, but you will usually get an answer to your Hyatt ownership question there.

Last month in Destinations magazine Hyatt profiled how a 2200 points week owner managed to get 64 nights stay out of his ownership last year!! WOW!! I thought I did good with 17 nights!! But then again the Studio doesn't usually work for us.
